Islamabad, considered a part of the Islamabad Capital Territory in administration, is one of the largest cities in Pakistan. The city serves as the capital city of Pakistan as well as the political seat of the country. Islamabad’s location makes it a gateway into both Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as it falls on the crossroads of the two. This city was established in the 1960s in a bid to replace Karachi as the capital of Pakistan, and it has since developed into the safest economic, environmental, commercial, and tourism hub of the country.
Islamabad is known for its beautiful sceneries, lots of green in the environment, for being safe, as well as for its high living standards - this is the main reason many tourists are attracted to it. Besides, the city has a beautiful location in the plateau of Pothohar, found to the northeast of Pakistan, with the famous sprawling Hills National Park to the north side and Rawalpindi District to the other.
Some of the tourist attraction spots include the massive iconic Pakistan monument in the heart of Islamabad, the mighty grandeur of the Faisal Mosque, and the unique scenic beauty of Margalla Hills National Park.

When to visit Islamabad

Islamabad experiences a humid subtropical climate that is Köppen classified as Cwa. The weather is characteristic of cold and mildly dry winters, mild and pleasant spring, warm and lovely autumns, and extremely scorching and humid summers. The city experiences an additional monsoon season that lasts from July through August.
Summer begins in May and ends in June, and is typical of high-temperature readings and sweltering days with up to ten and a half hours of sunshine. The temperature during the day averages 38°C (100.4°F), and at night it drops to between 19.7°C (67.5°F) and 23.7°C (74.7°F). With the extended daylight hours, it becomes lovely touring Islamabad late into the evening.
The monsoon season begins in July and ends in August. Usually, the temperature ranges anything between 24.1°C (75.4°F) and 35°C (95°F). The heat is always cooled considerably with the heavy rainfall that falls during the season. For instance, July has an average of 267mm (10.5") in precipitation, and August has the highest reading in precipitation of 310.2mm (12.2") on average. Expect thunderstorms and flooding in the lowly regions during this season.
During autumn, from September to October, the heavy rains from the previous season lower considerably, as does the extreme heat. The temperature averages 32°C (89.6°F) during the day and 19.3°C (66.7°F) during the nights. Coupled with the stunning beauty of the fall, Islamabad looks and feels breathtaking in autumn.
Winter runs from November through February and is mainly characteristic of mild and tolerable temperature in the range of 16.5°C (61.7°F) and 19.6°C (67.3°F) during the day and a low range of 2.5°C (36.5°F) and 6.8°during most nights. With up to six and a half hours of sunshine, however, winter feels a lot warmer and tolerable than registered.
Spring is mild and pleasant, lasting from March to April, with the mercury in the lows of 15°C (59°F) and highs of 30.2°C (86.4°F). The days are moderately dry and sunny, and get even better with the beauty of the spring blossoms. Both spring and autumn record the highest number of tourists, because of the mild weather and stunning beauty. Summer is a bit too hot for most people.
